Itinerary and Accomodation

Early morning pick up from Mombasa Airport, Residence or hotel and start drive to The Tsavo East National Park. The sight of dust-red elephant wallowing, rolling and spraying each other with the midnight blue waters of palm-shaded Galana River is one of the most evocative images in Africa. This, along with the 300 kilomtere long Yatta Plateau, the longest lava flow in the world, make for an adventure unlike any other in the Tsavo East. The park forms the largest protected area in Kenya and is home to most of the larger mammals, vast herds of dust –red elephant, Rhino, buffalo, lion, leopard, pods of hippo, crocodile, waterbucks, lesser Kudu, gerenuk and the prolific bird life features 500 recorded species. Overnight at tented camp or lodge.

We depart by road for Tsavo West National Park. Arrive in time for lunch then an optional afternoon game drive. From the sight of fifty million gallons of crystal clear water gushing out of from the under parched lava rock that is the Mzima Springs to the Shetani lava flows, Tsavo West is a beautiful, rugged wilderness. There are many elephants, and they are often covered in red dust, giving them an eerie appearance. The park is also known for its maneless lions and big herds of buffalo. Black rhinos have been on the comeback in Tsavo since the ’80s when they were close to being locally extinct. Overnight at tented camp or lodge.

Early morning game viewing drive at Tsavo West National Park and later drive to Amboseli National Park. Arrive in time for lunch followed by an afternoon game drive. Amboseli is often called the ‘Land of Giants’ – due to the impressive elephants here carrying massive tusks. The animals are set against breathtaking vistas of Mt Kilimanjaro, which makes an awesome backdrop to the small park. Aside from elephants, many plains animals are easy to spot. Most of the park consists of a dry, ancient lake bed and fragile grassland with patches of acacia woodland, while in the southern area there is a number of small, rocky, volcanic hills. Around the swamps Ol Okenya, Ol Tukai and Enkongo Narok, the vegetation is lush with yellow-barked acacias and phoenix palms. Overnight at tented camp or lodge.

An early morning game viewing drive at Lake Nakuru as you head out to Lake Naivasha, which is the highest and the most beautiful of the Rift Valley lakes. It is one of the primary drinking holes for buffalos, zebras, elands, impalas, waterbucks and other grazers, as well as a favorite place for hippos to cool themselves during the day. Along the lakeshore, vineyards produce grapes for the country's fledgling wine industry. Afternoon boat ride to view hippos, rich bird life and small game. Later guided walking safari at the Crescent Island. Overnight at tented camp or lodge.

An early morning drive to Masai Mara National Reserve, it holds on as one of the few places left on earth where wildlife still lives comparatively undisturbed, in the numbers that once roamed the plains and forests of Africa. The grassy plains and regular rainfall supports a huge population of herbivores, in turn attracting many predators. All three big cats are relatively easy to see. As the northern tip of the vast Serengeti ecosystem, the Mara hosts the spectacular seasonal migration of many thousands of wildebeest, zebras and attendant predators. Arrive in time for lunch then have an afternoon game drive. Overnight at tented camp or lodge. Note: You can book an optional hot-air balloon flight over the savannah; it is a pre-dawn start and you are rewarded with a well-deserved champagne breakfast.

After breakfast, we have a full day game drive, with packed lunch provided. The quintessential Masai Mara safari is a photographer’s and naturalist’s paradise, with abundant elephant, buffalo, giraffe, black-maned lion and cheetah alongside the migratory wildebeest and zebra. Leopards are frequently encountered, endangered black rhino hide in the dense thickets and large rafts of hippo and enormous crocodiles are found in the Mara River. The park is also home to over 470 bird species. Among these 16 species of eagle, plus many hawks and falcons, marabou storks, secretary birds, hornbills, crowned cranes, ostriches, long-crested eagles, African pygmy-falcons and the lilac-breasted roller. Many of the cheetahs are so tame they seek shelter from the hot sun under one's vehicle and several even climb onto the roof to get a better view of prospective prey. At midday, your guide will set out a delicious picnic lunch in a shady and safe spot before continuing in the afternoon. Note: The day is yours to pace as you want. Should you want your day with morning and afternoon game drives only, your guide is available to make that happen as well. Overnight at tented camp or lodge

We wake up at 6 am for a sunrise game drive. Drive back to your tented camp or lodge for breakfast and later Depart Masai Mara National Reserve for Nairobi where we will bring you to the airport for your flight back to Mombasa. You can also opt to choose the Madaraka Express Train back to the coast. A professional driver-guide will pick you at the airport or rail station in Mombasa and transfers you to your resort or hotel.
