Itinerary and Accomodation

Early morning pick up from Airport, hotel or residence. Begin a 5hr scenic drive of around 250km from Nairobi to Lake Baringo. Arrive at the lodge in time for lunch and proceed for a birding and photography tour of the lake. Among the rare birds are the bat hawk and majestic verreaux eagle. Others include flycatcher, African fish eagle, marabou storks, shikra, white-faced scops owl, Hemprich”s hornbill, African darter and the African skimmer. Then there is the Korossi volcano not far from the lake. It rises 1,449 metres above sea level. It is the ideal place for watching and taking pictures of birds. The lake offers lots of sporting experiences, including sport boating and riding, fishing, water-skidding and diving. A relaxing boat ride in the lake gives you an opportunity to spot the rarer species such as the flycatcher, bush shrike, wood hoopoe and kingfishers. The boat ride is also a great opportunity to see the hippos. Overnight at your tented camp/ lodge of choice

After breakfast you will check out of the lodge and drive to the nearby Lake Bogoria arriving for check in and lunch at the lodge. Lake Bogoria National Reserve has more than 350 birds on its list, but the main attraction is an estimated two million lesser flamingos which flock in the shallow waters feeding on algae. Mixed in are many greater flamingos as well. Lake Bogoria is one of the best places in Kenya to see large flocks of these birds. Plenty of other waterbirds are easy to spot, and the call of a fish eagle is never far off. With its alkaline waters, it has become a better destination for seeing flamingos as compared to Lake Nakuru. The lakeshore is also good for seeing and photographing other animals like the greater kudu. Other attractions in this park include the rugged rocks which emit furious hot springs. Popular species on this tour include African fish eagle, yellow billed hornbill and greater/lesser flamingo, among others. Overnight at your tented camp/ lodge of choice

After breakfast you will check out of the lodge and drive to Lake Nakuru which is another famous bird watching sanctuary. On arrival, have lunch before departing for afternoon exploration of the park. The park’s main feature is a large, shallow lake supporting great birdlife, including big flocks of pelicans and variable flocks of flamingos. It is also an excellent park for wildlife spotting and is home to many water-loving animals such as hippos and waterbucks. The park is aslo the best for spotting the endangered white and black rhinos. It is not a large park but it is very scenic because of its acacia forest. The scenery of Lake Nakuru is breathtaking. The Rift Valley escarpment, dotted with euphorbia trees, rises up from the lakeshore. Heavy mist usually shrouds the lake and surrounding yellow fever trees in the early morning. Overnight at your tented camp/ lodge of choice

Early morning pre-breakfast game drive is recommended for an opportunity to see the elusive leopard as it prefers to hunt in semi-darkness. Afterwards you will spend another day in Lake Nakuru enjoying spectacular birding experience as well as taking beautiful pictures of the lake and its environs. At midday, your guide will set out a delicious picnic lunch in a shady and safe spot before continuing in the afternoon Overnight at your tented camp/ lodge of choice The day is yours to pace as you want. Should you want your day with morning and afternoon game drives only, your guide is available to make that happen as well.

After breakfast at the lodge head out to Lake Naivasha, which is the highest and the most beautiful of the Rift Valley lakes. It is one of the primary drinking holes for buffalos, zebras, elands, impalas, waterbucks and other grazers, as well as a favorite place for hippos to cool themselves during the day. From boat trips on the lake you can get close to Cormorants drying their wings, Pink Backed Pelicans, Herons, colourful Kingfishers and Fish Eagles.
