Overview

Watch the fiery sunset as you enjoy a cocktail by the pool and watch when nature plays the evening trumpets or close your eyes and drift off into the African dreamland during your stay at Samburu Simba Lodge. This is place where you can call a day unforgettable yet still realize it’s an understatement.

Evacay Africa recommends you consider staying in its sister reserve, the next-door Buffalo Springs. This reserve is located on the south of the Ewaso Nyiro River while Samburu National Reserve is on the north.

The lodge has a delightful collection of structures with sloping roofs covered with wooden slats and paved stone floors. A walkway leads to the main reception and goes on to the expansive lounge, bar and dining area.

Each of these areas has wooden beams holding up the roof and lightweight woven bamboo furniture to create an ambience of a grand accommodation. The floors are part hardwood and part stone.

The lodge has seven villas that house 70 rooms in all. Every villa has 6 rooms on the ground floor and 4 rooms on the first. Two of these rooms are interconnected for smaller families traveling in northern Kenya. Top floor rooms are recommended for better views of the reserve.

Samburu Simba Lodge has two swimming pools, one of which is a low-level infinity pool offering views of the gorgeous Samburu wilds.

Tall yellow fever trees provide shade and lounge chairs furnish the stone deck around the pool. You can also order drinks at the poolside bar as you spend time relaxing or soaking in the cool water when you return from your morning game drive or after lunch.
